Golf authorities have confirmed plans to crack down on reckless cart and caddie drivers across the US, by announcing a new compulsory driver’s license, coming into effect from April 2023.
Leading electric caddie manufacturer Stewart Golf has come to golfers' rescue, offering FREE driving tests for their caddie owners. Helping ensure all Stewart Golf customers will not be affected in any way by these new regulations.
“There appears to be an influx of golfers who are causing chaos on the course… sending their trolleys into trees, bunkers and even the occasional lake!” said US Golf Delegate, Mona Lott. “With the introduction of the new driver’s license, we can ensure that golf courses across the country are kept safe from these erratic drivers.”
Trial runs of the new driving test were rolled out earlier this week, with Stewart Golf’s newly appointed Testing Officer, April Fuels stating, “We are delighted with the results of this trial run and were so close to a 100% pass rate – unfortunately, Mr Funnell left his glasses at home and by the time he saw the water hazard it was too late!”
A new ‘three-strike’ penalty system is set to be introduced after an independent study found that most trolley accidents were a result of careless driving, with 30% caused by excessive alcohol consumption and a staggering 42% caused due to road rage after slicing one into the trees.
Rumours have also emerged that ‘Golf Police’ will be situated at golf clubs across the country to enforce these new measures, with three ‘strikes’ resulting in a six-month ban and 10 points on your handicap.
Fuels added, “Remote and Follow caddies are the way forward, and we have a fantastic community of Stewart owners. We wanted to make the transition to these new rules as seamless as possible for them, so offering free driving tests was the logical decision. We also plan to offer virtual testing options as soon as possible!”
